For anyone who hasn’t seen Jann Arden live yet, here’s our little, personal peek behind the scenes, before she appears live on stage at Deerhurst Resort on November 12, as the biggest highlight of the fun-packed Huntsville Girlfriends’ Getaway.
Jann Arden isn’t just a sultry, soulful voiced singer with two decades worth of real life songs, many of which have hit it big in everything from sales charts, to Hollywood films, to dance remixes. She is a Canadian paradox, a huge but humble and self-deprecating personality. This woman struts like she owns the stage. And she isn’t afraid to raise her voice.
She made a personal transformation that landed her on the cover of Chatelaine. She has her star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. She’s performed live with everyone from the Vancouver Symphony to Jim Cuddy and Michael Bublé.
Arden is also the ultimate multi-tasker. When she isn’t writing, singing on and making albums (10 at last count), she’s producing (check out the country cross-over group SHeDAISY), and proudly lending her star power to causes big and small including the national “Raise-a-Reader” campaign. And, get ready to giggle; if Arden hadn’t made it as a singer she could easily have honed a career as a side-spllittingly funny comedienne.
Probably a big part of what makes Arden so successful, 17 years after the Springbank, AB native’s powerful pipes first captured our national attention with Time for Mercy, is that she always puts on a really great show, like she hasn’t forgotten her early days, busking and making herself heard in all kinds of bars.
Wherever Jann Arden plays, we are all her girlfriends. At close to 50 she’s still a country- cool chick, but totally relatable, like the neighbour you wish you had. She often opens up the floor to crowd questions during packed performances and quickly confesses to getting her stylish footwear at Winners. Her signature comic anecdotes come as quickly as those beloved tunes.
She’s also stayed current, redefining her own pop-rock tales of heartache, like I Would Die for You, which often gets a fun, reggae –inspired update live on stage.
If you don’t yet have her latest album, Free, now is a great time to pick up or download a copy. You can also watch for her as a celebrity judge on Global’s new reality series Canada Sings.
And when you come to Arden’s show at Deerhurst for Canada’s largest giirlfriends’ getaway this November count on a get-up-and-dance in the aisles, a clap-along jam, a slew of songs, a ton of laughter and some truly memorable moments. Don’t miss this one a kind weekend with one of Canada’s most entertaining stars.
