Celebrate Maple Syrup at Deerhurst Resort

Deerhurst Resort's Sugar Shack

It's a Muskoka springtime tradition. As the days start to thaw and nights remain cold, the sap starts to run in maple trees and it’s sugaring time again! Since its inception in 1993, Deerhurst Resort’s maple syrup operation has grown to almost 2,000 taps that funnel sap to a large evaporateur through network of tubing hidden through the dense forest. Each tap produces approximately 25 litres of sap, which sounds like a lot until you realize it takes 40 litres of sap to make just one litre of ‘liquid gold’ maple syrup.

Visit with Deerhurst's syrup producer at the sugar shack, daily during March Break from 1 - 3pm.

Deerhurst Resort Pure Maple Syrup is available for sale in the resort's General Store. Pick up a bottle to take home today!
