Deerhurst Resort Golf Professional Named One of Top 50 Instructors in Canada

Muskoka, ON., April 13, 2005 - Dave Castellan, Director of Golf Instruction at Deerhurst Resort, has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Golf Instructors in Canada according to a recent survey by The National Post. The list is published in the newspaper's 2005 Golf Preview magazine.

A Canadian PGA professional for more than 25 years, Castellan is one of 19 Ontario instructors on the Top 50 list and the only one based in Muskoka.

"It's truly an honour to be included on such a prestigious list," said Castellan, who founded the Deerhurst Resort Golf Academy in 1999. "I've always enjoyed teaching the game and get a great deal of personal fulfillment from seeing others improve."

After a successful stint on the Canadian Tour, Castellan joined forces with legendary professional George Knudson to form their own golf academy and help create the Teaching Manual for future Canadian PGA professionals. Castellan has also provided instruction at several other high profile Ontario courses including Summit in Richmond Hill, the Hunt Club in London, Maple Downs in Maple and Hawk Ridge in Orillia.

Deerhurst Golf Academy Now Open

The golf academy at Deerhurst Resort is already open for business with indoor instruction available. The academy will move outdoors in early May. Enrolment is now being accepted into the "Swing Into Spring" golf clinic series. For just $99/person, golfers receive three weekly 2-hour group clinics featuring video swing analysis, teaching manual, short game and full swing techniques. Morning clinics start May 10 and are available Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Evening clinics start Wednesday, May 18.

Course Openings

Opening dates have been set for the two 18-hole golf courses at Deerhurst Resort. Deerhurst Lakeside (par 65, 4,712 yards) is scheduled to open Saturday, April 30 while Deerhurst Highlands (par 72, 7,011 yards) will open Saturday, May 7.
