Holly COle In Concert
Canada's favourite jazz-pop fusion performer tops Huntsville's new Spring Fever weekend with Deerhurst performance.
HUNTSVILLE, ON., March 2010 – Ever feel like the kids have all the fun, from spring breaks to summer camps? This April, the Muskoka town of Huntsville is teaming up with landmark Deerhurst Resort to give adults their own escape cause, the inaugural Spring Fever Weekend, headlined by a concert with Canadian jazz-pop favourite Holly Cole.
An inspiring April 17 night of music from the by turns sultry and exuberant Cole will showcase her eclectic repertoire which ranges from Lyle Lovett to Lerner & Lowe, Sheryl Crowe to Sarah Vaughan.
“Holly gives her own unique spin to all kinds of songs; we want to give Muskoka fans some new, early reasons to take a spin up to Huntsville for the weekend and make the most of spring,” noted organizer Kelly Haywood, general manager of the Huntsville-Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce.
“You can tell Holly puts her heart and soul into performing live,” said Haywood. "And with budget-friendly hotel deals plus a stage act that’s different to her recordings, this weekend will be well worth the trip.”
Huntsville’s charming Main Street area is also pulling out all the stops for Spring Fever with free hand massages (great for Blackberry fingers) at bath emporium Soapstones plus a mix of appealing shopping and dining deals, like "no tax" on regularly priced men's and ladies fashions at downtown landmark Flotron's Hickory & Tweed.
Complete Spring Fever overnight and weekend packages including accommodation, breakfast, admission to the Cole show and after-party both at Deerhurst, complimentary resort bike rentals and special offers to explore downtown Huntsville start at just $109 per person/night, based on double occupancy. To book, call 1-800-461-4393 or click deerhurstresort.com/hollycole.
ABOUT DEERHURST
A Muskoka tradition since 1896, Deerhurst Resort is known for its entertainment value having recently hosted concerts by Johnny Reid and Chantal Kreviazuk, as well as serving as the home for Canada’s longest running live stage production, currently presenting the pop music revue Decades. From June 24-26, the 780 acre retreat, which includes two 18-hole golf courses, a complete spa, 45,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and an extensive waterfront, will serve as host venue for the 2010 G8 Summit.
ABOUT HOLLY COLE
Since her debut in 1989, smoky-voiced JUNO winner and Grammy nominee Holly Cole’s albums have sold over a million copies and earned her a reputation for reinventing familiar songs. The tone of Cole’s latest, self-named CD is set from the opening track, a darkly nuanced version of a song she learned from a Mel Torme album, “The House Is Haunted By the Echo of Your Last Goodbye,” and leaves listeners with a new appreciation for composers like Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.
