Steamers Restaurant & Bar | Open May - October 18th

Powered By OpenTable

Muskoka's Favourite Steakhouse

Muskoka's favourite summer restaurant, Steamers brings together a welcome mix of contemporary flavours, classic technique and traditional steakhouse cuisine featuring freshly cut certified Black Angus beef including a super tender 48 day in-house dry-aged choice. The wine list is carefully hand-picked to complement a menu that showcases summer’s Savour Muskoka bounty and provide pairings for every occasion.

Tucked next to Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course, and overlooking the historic canal between Fairy and Peninsula Lakes, this upbeat loghouse retreat is a polished yet relaxed place to unwind and celebrate after a day of golf or outdoor adventures. Tables for two also make it a favourite ‘date night’ choice. A daytime menu of snacks, burgers and sandwiches is also offered during golf season.

Meet Chef De Cuisine Solomon Mason

It's a long way from North Bay to Napa Valley, but for Chef de Cuisine Solomon Mason it's a natural trajectory in his flourishing culinary career. Fortunately for diners in Muskoka, he's making a stop at Steamers Steakhouse for a Canadian break after holding coveted positions at The French Laundry in California and Per Se in New York, both Michelin 3-Star establishments regarded as two of the top restaurants in the U.S.

"Fresh, local, foraged" is his mantra. Virtually everything on this year's Steamers menu is prepared from fresh, handpicked ingredients, including top quality Black Angus beef dry-aged and cut right in the kitchen. The Arctic Char is brought in live, pasta is handmade, charcuterie meats cured in-house and ever changing seasonal vegetables are grown just 5km away. All steaks are served with a sauce thickened only by reduction over four days.

When not leading the Steamers team on foraging outings to gather wild flavours like spruce tips and cattails, Chef Solomon is busy working directly with farmers and seafood suppliers, artisan cheese experts, and orchards like the one in Niagara where he found the intensely flavoured cherries for his compote.

Curious diners are even invited into the kitchen for a behind the scenes peak at all the culinary processes that go into creating their dishes. It's all part of the culinary legacy Chef Solomon hopes to leave when his plans to return to the US next year take shape.
